When your co-workers buy you a group of photography sessions for your baby shower - you have no excuse but to get photos taken of your babe!

Scarlett was an amazing little client. I loved watching her hair and personality grow from 6months to a year old! And if I thought momma was glowing when she was expecting - boy is she glowing now, with pride of her little princess.

Enjoy some reminiscent photos from her Maternity and 6 month session.. and then soak in the love and dreaminess of her unicorn themed first birthday party!!

We spent the second half of her maternity session at Ranch Park and the first half doing intimate photos inside! It was a beautiful, breezy day at Ranch Park!

As a photographer, its an amazing opportunity to watch a mommy glowing in pregnancy to meeting their new baby and then capturing their baby as he grows! This baby was extra special. Baby Owen was born with a cleft lip and palate. So not only were we capturing his growth in size, but also his amazing transformation from a newborn with a cleft lip to a growing baby with a full smile!

Please enjoy some past shoots & his most recent cake smash!

I choose you. And I'll choose you over and over and over. Without a pause. Without a doubt. In a heart beat. I will keep choosing you.

Lets just say I have met these two in thee most unpredictable circumstances. First off, I ran into Brad about 5 years ago... NO, literally!! I drove my Yukon into his Ford, and knocked his rear view mirror off!! ... Now lets just say, I wasn't having the best of days... So of course, I pull over... with my 3 year old little girl and couple month old baby.. I'm bawling histarically. Go into the gym... ask if they know who owns the white Ford. Get told "oh yah it's the cop... Officer Pon..." ... GREAATTT!!! I just knocked off a mirror of a police officers car!! Fast forward to when they finally find him... All he can say is "I'm not even mad.. just upset this interrupted my workout." ....  Needless to say this was very CALMING from the day I had had prior.

Than 5 years later, Im in the ER. A hot, hot mess. My baby can't breath. He is just over a year old. And I have thee sweetest, calmest nurse in the ER. She was super down to earth and definitely tended to our needs, especially my babies (who himself couldn't breath)... Didn't know that a few month down the line I would get an email from the same awesome nurse who is wanting ME to do her engagement photos! AND she recognizes my face from that experience!

Now being an LVN and also an avid gym go-er... I was totally down to do their engagement photos! I won't give you step by step on how the shoot started out.. just know that from the moment they pulled up, I was at complete ease.... They both were so down to earth and hilarious to boot! I think you will be able to tell, from these photos, that they're perfect for one another.. and deeply in love!

So here it is... a small portion of Brad & Meagan's Engagement Session!

After Every Storm, There Lies a Rainbow

2/11/2016

No words could ever be more true... In so many different meanings. I mean, it can rain, hail, and then clear and you will see a rainbow. So that would be a storm. But a storm could also be where life has become twisted. Doesn't make sense. God keeps throwing blows. You drop to your knees screaming "WHY"... that is a LIFE storm...

I have been close to someone who has lived a "life storm" for awhile now... But I have never met someone so grateful, selfless, and sweet after all the trials and tribulations that have come her way. She has been in love, been heart broken, been excited, and then let down.. And this wasn't just a one time thing.. this has happened quite a few times for her. Yet she continues to push through with a smile on her face. Constantly helping others and being there for her friends and family.

So you ask, where is her rainbow in all of the craziness that has hit her life? Well she has settled down with her true Prince Charming. She has been excited to bring new life into this world, but then had that taken away.

Then, just a few weeks back, she contacts me.. wanting to schedule a shoot. I immediately thought just a couples with their puppies shoot... since that has been what we have been planning for some time. She then says its for a MATERNITY SHOOT!!!! EEEKKKKKk!!! She had waited long enough to let the truth be known!! She was finally into the second trimester, almost HALFWAY done with her pregnancy...

I couldn't be more excited for her!!

Well since we are basically family, we were invited to her gender reveal party. Her sister-in-law and brother hosted, decorated, and planned out the entire day... Okay maybe he just hosted... Vicky truly did all the work! Along with her sister Ivanna, the day was set. The house was filled with food, treats, goodies, and decorations of pink and blue. Friends and family sat around, laughed, talked, shared stories, and watched all the other kids play around the house.  Posole was served. Along with hotdogs, hamburgers, and tritip.

Ruby's mom told stories of how long she had had the HUGE pot she made the posole in. She shed tears when she reminisced on how it was like being pregnant with Ruby herself. And how so many things Ruby was experiencing were just like when she was pregnant with her.

Then it was time to round the troops up and go outside, for the baseball toss (full of pink or blue!)... We lined the street. I pulled the camera close, making sure not to miss that special moment when the ball cracked and the powder flew, filling the sky with different colors.

Ruby leaned back, pitched the ball, and Preston swung the bat. CRACK. Wait... the color didn't fill the sky... AHHHH! I jumped out of the way just in time to miss the ball landing and cracking on the road in front of me... BLUE, IT WAS BLUE.... The baby was a BOY!!!.... How exciting, the joy we shared during the moments following..

But of course we needed that AH-HAH moment.. that when the ball hit the bat, color flew everywhere!... So we tried again... this time it was a swing and a miss...

Now it was Ruby's turn to swing the bat!! BAM! BLUE EVERYWHERE!!

What an exciting day it was for everyone! Now I look forward to capturing every moment of this baby!!! This RAINBOW BABY!! The calm after the storm! The beautiful excitement of life... life after death, life after the storm... This beautiful RAINBOW!

Don't Blink...Grow with Me...Half Way There

I was introduced to these two beautiful people during a fall wedding at our local Wemple's Pumpkin Patch. They were a bridesmaid and a groomsman in the wedding. During this wedding, I was able to see them interact with each other and you could just feel the love they shared. I learned they had been together for quite some time, they were married, and they were living life to the fullest. Buying houses and cars and both have great careers, they seemed to have it all. I captured some images of them during this wedding, leaving the event with a few new friends made. Who knew if I would ever see them again, since they were just in the wedding.

Flash forward some time, and I receive an e-mail on my facebook page. It was from Alison. She was inquiring about maternity sessions.... WAIT, HOLD THE PHONE.  "Is this for you?" I typed with delight and to my surprise she responded with a YES!!

I was beyond excited for these two!!! I couldn't have picked a more deserving pair. And as much as they thought they had it all (house, cars, each other)... their whole life would FINALLY start to be completed with the entrance of this sweet little man!

Early on they found out sweet baby O had not only a cleft lip, but more than likely a cleft palate. So when A&H asked me to capture not only their maternity session, but a small grow with me package, I was elated! I got to capture the sweetest of this little man AND then also capture his journey with his cleft lip... what a perfect way to not only capture HIS growth but the AMAZINGNESS that is the medical field.

Please enjoy some sneaks of Baby O in mommy's tummy, Baby O as a newbie, and my most recent, Baby O as a big 6 month old!!!

"M" Family - Susanville, Ca

To say I enjoy having this site & blog section of my website, would be an understatement. I thoroughly enjoy the story behind my photo sessions as well as being able to have their sessions online so that the family/clients can share with their friends and family members near & far!!

Welcome the "M" family to the blog! This is also another time sensitive session due to the son/brother serving in the military and being stationed in another state. He was only home for a couple weeks for the holidays.

Picture
This session was a blast. The youngest son's personality was killer. I would pull out the camera & he would strike a different pose with every click of the shutter. The daughter was the one who pulled this whole session together for her mom for a Christmas gift. And what a fun gift it was. It had been YEARS since they had a family shoot!

What a family full of unique and silly personalities! Let me tell you, dad (center photo with hat) was making me laugh so hard!! He would laugh and smile up a storm when we were just walking from spot to spot, and then the moment I had the camera out with him in my sights, he would go to a straight face. But no worries! I caught some candid smiles for the family! We ended this chilly session with the above family shot. Casual, pulling everyone together, close, like a family should be! I hope you enjoy this session!!

J Flyy - Maternity - Winter Wonderland

So if you have read any of my narration under my "Maternity" section of this website, you will see how important I feel it is for mommy to capture her beautiful growing belly sometime in her pregnancy, and in my opinion later is better than sooner!

With that being said, this mommy was NOT a fan about me making her wait from Thanksgiving time until Christmas time so that her belly wasn't just looking like an after Turkey bloat.

Picture
Do you blame me?
Now a little back ground on this beautiful growing family. Daddy-to-be is living across the US coaching a college basketball team. While the glowing mommy-to-be spends hours a day chasing after 10 plus 3-4 year olds, while she teaches a preschool (in which my son attends.. bless her heart). So we had a VERY small window to do this shoot. Daddy was only coming home for THREE days during the holiday break. And of course, as normal Lassen County weather has it, it was storming all week, INCLUDING the day of our shoot.

Mommy & Daddy wanted some snow though, but of course white out conditions would enable my lens to capture anything outside of white speckles everywhere.

We were getting nervous as our start time neared and it was literally a blizzard outside. But it made things easier, because if it was to stop some, just for 45-60 minutes, we wouldn't have to drive to the mountains to shoot this. It was a miracle when the clouds dried up, the sun peaked behind the coulds, and a mountain right behind our houses held thee perfect scenery for this beautiful maternity shoot.

Dad stepped out of the car with jokes (hence this blog's title). Told me he is more of a performer than one to be serious and pose. And as mom describes it, that's what their relationship, and family, are all about. Humor, Laughter, Smiles, and LOTS of LOVE.
Picture
The boys were troopers too. They were always a constant helping hand. As a photographer you need a million hands, for props, for ideas, for anything. And it is so sweet to have two young gentleman totally willing to help me out when need be. OH and when they looked at their mom... when they placed their not so small hands on their mommy's growing belly... you not only could see mom gleam with pride and joy over her three boys, but that pride & joy was radiating off of her growing babies as well.

So here it is, for all the family near AND far, cause I know not only daddy but ALL of daddy's family is not so close. I hope you enjoy this growing family as much as I did for our shoot!!! I cannot wait to meet this little gentleman!

The Britt Family - Ranch Park

I absolutely love shooting families that I know. And in this case, I loved shooting a family that IS my family! Meet my brother & sister-in-law and my beautiful nieces and handsome nephew!
Picture
It started off as a very chilly Saturday morning at the end of November. This cute little family jumped out of their car, bundled in blankets & scarves but their smiles showed the cold didn't bother them at all (at least the kids, mom & dad were a little chilled). Dad helped carry a lot of the things I brought to use for the kids, while mom and I tried rallying the kids as quickly as possible to our first destination. Did I mention, we brought my 3 kiddos as well, to do a cousin shot!! Well the day went a lot nicer than I expected with 6 kiddos and freezing tempertatures. From the girls keeping the babies warm, to being bundled in multiple layers of different blankets. We rushed from spot to spot, but hit our perfect smiles every click of the shutter. Then finished out the session with a muddy and red nosed trip for hot cocoa to Starbucks! Ok - So I may be a little bias, but I LOVED these shots!! Enjoy checking out our session!
